Default Transmission cooler. a wee bit larger then stock!

so after patching a few transmission line leaks and springing another leak in the transmission cooler i thought it was time to replace them.

i lucked out a found one that was just the right size. if it was just 1/2 of an inch bigger then it wouldn't fit.

after running it for a week, i think i'll have to say: i like it.

on hot days of 100+ degrees in town driving the transmission temp gauge never gets above 150. in the morning when its around 70 out the gauge never moves up from cold. i am even seeing about a 20 degree drop in engine temps too at times.

so far i have not towed anything with it yet but have no reason to believe it will not keep up with the demand

anyways here are some photos

the cooler is 27 inches wide

and 18 inches tall

new hydraulic lines from mcmaster carr

ya, my temps used to be around 200 all of the time. the best was about 180 on the freeway.

now is there such a thing as too cold? i wonder what winter will be like. might have to block some of it off

got mine on ebay for about $75

here is one that looks almost exactly like mine. same size too:
Setrab NASCAR road course 2 pass design aluminum oil cooler with AN-12 fittings | eBay

there are others that some of you adventurous one might get to work. just search ebay for "Nascar oil cooler"

the hydraulic hoses i got from McMaster Carr
McMaster-Carr

you will need some flair fittings. i removed the section of transmission line up to the nearest hard line and flared it to make the connection

good luck to who ever buys it first
