Default Towing

I have everything in my signature and I just bought a 7x16 v nose enclosed trailer. I got awful fuel mileage unless I was behind an 18 wheeler, I have 3.55's in the rear, how much of a difference in fuel mileage would I get if I changed the rear to 3.73, I usually average 24-26 highway unloaded just cruising 75, I was getting 14-16 towing the trailer with total weight of 4300lbs, I guess what I am asking is will it benefit me change to 3.73's???? Tanks in advance

Something is wrong...

235/85 R16 - 3.55 Gears - NV4500 Trans - 55-60 MPH typical highway speed. (ST trailer tires limit to 65 MPH)

I get 14 pulling this beast in the mountains of Idaho.

So I gotta ask what size tires are you running?

How fast are you towing?

Is that calculated with a calculator or the overhead display? The 24 to 26 seems very high to be honest with you. Low 20s on the highway are more realistic unloaded. The drop in mileage does not sound all that crazy to me. How tall is your trailer?

3.73s will help the mileage with towing but will suffer when unloaded.

Alright I was averaging 24-26 driving 180 miles highway a day from Sebastian Florida to Orlando Florida, my overhead display does not work, I am running 265 75 16 all terrains because I am now in Virginia in the blue ridge mountains, I know it's going to suffer but I moved out of Florida and I will be in the Virginia Carolina area for a long time to come, the trailer is a 6'6" interior height soo I'm guessing 8'-8'6" tall from road to top, and saying I would suffer fuel mileage unloaded how bad would it be? I towed from Sebastian fl to Staunton va and burnt 2 and a quarter tanks when usually I have to stop and fill up one time and still have 3/4 tank when I get home.
