Default new to the diesel game

just bought my first diesel in a 1982 scottsdale 6.2 and im in love but kind of left hanging in the power department im hooked up to a 4spd stick so it makes up for it on the low end like i said before though i am a complete noob in the diesel game any easy power boosts no matter how small would be greatly appreciated or just geneal tips i would need to know about these engines

Turbocharge it. Exhaust and intake help. Not really much you can do for these that's "easy".

another dumb question i want a deeper sound from my exhaust does the engine need the mufflers for back pressure or will straight pipes work ok

and when i say easy power boosts i mean bolt on i have a decent knowledge of gas burners but still a little t green to break into the internals dont have a local part store so if i break something its days to fix it

There are tons of youtube vids with 6.5 TD trucks with straight pipes. I'm thinking of ditching my muffler and hollowing out the soot trap. Diesels don't need back pressure.

You can't really get a diesel to rumble like a gasser.

ditched the mufflers for 4in straights and sounds great very loud but i like it
