Speedometer question?
My 1991 truck has no speedometer, i think this is the second one in the last 5 years, i bougt them on ebay,so anyway I was thinking about using a universal speedometer, is this really possible (???)
To be honest i really want to use the original speedometer/odometer, any help or input will be very much appreciated.
Thanks

A quick solution is a Electronic speedo thru Autometer with a new VSS....when you change your tire size, its sweet cause you can adjust your speedo reading to compensate. I have one in my HotRod 1-Ton....

Thanks.....so far i allready replace the small 2 gears at the speddo cluster, its still not working, i guess the problem is/was not there!!!! So youre saying you have an Autometer universal speedometer? And you are still using a regular VSS, i understand a few of those Autometer (brand) work with some type of GPS thing??? Righ? What P.N. Is the one your using, in case i dont have good lock with my hunting, this is what im going to do, in my list:
1-Replace the speedo gears... DONE. ( did not solve the problem):
2-Check and/or replace the VVS. Will do this in the next few days..

The speedo in our trucks is electric, it receives a signal from the Vehicle Speed Sensor. The VSS is screwed into where the speedo cable would be on the early trucks.
Look in the Autometer Catalog, its a universal round 2 1/2 OD Autometer, with the electric VSS. The Dash in my HotRod is flat so I've got A Pryo, Boost, Water Temp, Oil Press, Oil Temp, Fuel Press, Voltage, Tach, Speedo, Trans Temp.
If you've gone into the speedo to do the gears, and all is good there, Check The VSS first. Sometimes the VSS will become loose and loose its ground, and it'll be like a blinking switch....
