Default clutchless shifting

Does this hurt the transmission in anyway? I heard that its actually better than using the clutch to shift and extends the life of the clutch

This has been argued out many times through the years and i can only give you my personal experiences. The NV4500 will powershift and do it pretty easily but the soft metal in the synchro's will not stand up to it. We've rebuilt my tranny twice now and it's easy to see the damage done by doing it.

Just go to any tranny shop that has worked on these trannies a fair amount and they can usually show ya the aftermath.

I wouldnt recommend it either they are not designed to shift with out the clutch like uncle bubba said it tears up the syncros

The NV4500 and the NV5600 are completely different trannies, have nothin in common with each other other then the company that made them.

the thing that messes them up is when you shift from 3rd to 4th or any gear 1-2.3-4.5-6and you hold it in the 4th gear waiting for the rpms to drop enough to get into gear. even if its not grinding. when you just hol it there it weres the syncros and after long periods of time shifting like that the syncros will were out.
just use the clutch. its hard to find parts for those trannies.
